Sarri wants Kovacic not to return to Real Madrid

Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri has asked Mateo Kovacic to sign a permanent contract with the club and not return to Real Madrid.

The Croatian midfielder is loaned to Chelsea for a year by the Spanish giant and Sarri believes he is getting better fit with his style of play.

Sarri’s decision to put Jorginho and Kovacic in midfield before the defense before N’Golo Kantes has been questioned.

The Italian coach is using Kanten out of his position in a more advanced role behind the attackers.

“I want Kovacic to stay. He is borrowed, of course, but I would like Kovacic to stay in the club, “Sarri said.
