Report: Italy star Donnarumma agrees to join PSG as free agent
Paris Saint-Germain have seemingly won the race for Gianluigi Donnarumma’s coveted signature.
The Italian goalkeeper has reached a verbal agreement with the French club on a five-year contract, reports Fabrizio Romano of The Guardian. PSG beat out competition from Juventus and Barcelona for the 22-year-old.
The former AC Milan shot-stopper is expected to undergo medicals while stationed at Italy’s Euro 2020 camp, Romano adds. Donnarumma was between the sticks for the Azzurri’s commanding 3-0 win over Turkey on Friday in Rome.
Donnarumma made over 200 appearances for Milan after graduating from the club’s academy. His senior debut came as a 16-year-old.
The Rossoneri and the player’s infamous agent, Mino Raiola, couldn’t come to terms on a new contract, making Donnarumma a free agent this summer.
His expected arrival means Mauricio Pochettino will have a pair of top-class netminders on his hands next season, as incumbent starter Keylor Navas recently extended his own deal with the club until 2024.
