Mbappe thanks outgoing Tuchel: 'Nobody will forget your time here'

Kylian Mbappe paid tribute to Thomas Tuchel following reports that Paris Saint-Germain sacked the head coach Thursday.

Former PSG captain Mauricio Pochettino, who was fired as Tottenham Hotspur manager in November 2019, is widely expected to be named as Tuchel’s successor.

“It is sadly the law of football, but nobody will forget your time here,” Mbappe posted on Instagram, as translated by Goal. “You wrote a wonderful part of the club’s history and I say to you, thank you coach.”

Mbappe won two Ligue 1 titles, the Coupe de France, the Coupe de la Ligue, and finished as a runner-up in the 2019-20 Champions League final during Tuchel’s two-and-a-half years in the French capital.

Tuchel successfully navigated this season’s Champions League group stage despite his side being rocked by coronavirus cases and injuries, but the club dropped points to Lens, Marseille, AS Monaco, Bordeaux, Lyon, and Lille on domestic duty.

PSG are just one point below joint-leaders Lyon and Lille in Ligue 1 after 17 matches. They return to action at Saint-Etienne on Jan. 6.
