Seattle Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar is being removed from the commissioner’s exempt list, a source told ESPN, confirming an NFL Network report.
The move is expected to become official Sunday. Dunbar’s removal from the exempt list allows him to re-join the Seahawks at team headquarters, which he’s expected to do as early as Sunday. Dunbar could still face an NFL suspension.
On Friday, Broward (Florida) prosecutors declined to file criminal charges against Dunbar in a robbery case because of insufficient evidence.

Crazy that me choosing my family’s wellbeing over a game comes with so called fans attacking and questioning me and saying I’m selfish. No you guys are selfish for thinking that football is bigger than life. Oh by the way my girl’s grandfather passed from COVID. U understand now?
— Tre’Davious White (@TakeAwayTre_) August 6, 2020
White was drafted in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft and is considered one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL. He is the cornerstone of a Bills unit that has been among the top three scoring defenses over the past two seasons and is a big reason Buffalo is widely believed to be an AFC title contender in 2020.
Bills cornerback E.J. Gaines and defensive tackle Star Lotulelei did opt out of the 2020 season. Lotulelei was expected to start, while Gaines would have added depth to a cornerback unit that lacked it in 2019.
A league source told ESPN the Bills have been one of the most proactive teams in terms of player safety this training camp, and commended the team for taking extraordinary measures to keep players safe during the coronavirus pandemic. However, White said Wednesday that the team’s five positive test results from the first week of camp contributed to his uncertainty.
“Obviously, we have some of the best people around the league that really care for our well-being, so obviously they’ve been doing a great job,” he said. “But it’s the aspect of guys still testing positive and having false positive tests, then coming back to test negative. Psychologically, that plays a part in my thinking each and every day — do I want to come in here and (possibly) get my little 11-month-old baby sick, just coming home and trying to love on him and picking him up? Do I want to risk that? Because at the end of the day, no matter what, my family’s going to come first — no matter how big of a season or what’s going on, I’m going to always put my kids first.
“Those are the types of things I think about every day, if I’m willing to go the distance, go four or five months doing the same thing and having my kids stuck in the house.”
Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was removed from the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday and placed on the active roster after what the team called a false positive test.
Stafford appeared Saturday on the reserve/COVID-19 list, which means a player either has taken a test that has come back positive or has been in close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with the coronavirus.
The Lions, in a statement released Tuesday, said Stafford never had COVID-19 and instead had a false positive test after two negative coronavirus tests last Tuesday and Wednesday. On Friday, Stafford took a test that came back positive on Saturday.
His following three tests were all negative.

“To be clear, Matthew does NOT have COVID-19 and never has had COVID-19 and the test in question was a false-positive,” the Lions said in a statement. “Also, all of Matthew’s family have been tested and everyone is negative.”
Stafford was the first starting quarterback to go on the reserve/COVID-19 list and, at the time, the eighth Detroit player. Since then, tight end

The 29-year-old Gordon was suspended indefinitely in December for violations of the league’s policies on performance-enhancing substances and substances of abuse. He applied for reinstatement in mid-June with the hope that his indefinite suspension would be lifted in time to sign with a team and participate in training camp.
Gordon will be an unrestricted free agent if and when he is reinstated. Sources have told ESPN that he’s interested in a reunion with the Seahawks. Gordon caught seven passes for 139 yards in five games with the Seahawks, who claimed the one-time Pro Bowler when he was released off injured reserve by the New England Patriots in November.
“It’s not in our hands,” Carroll said. “Josh did a really good job with us last year. He fit in really well. He was part of this team by the way we opened and embraced his coming to us but also by the way he adapted. So we are very open to that thought, and we’ll see what happens. I don’t know. I can’t tell you what’s going to happen on that.”
The Seahawks signed Phillip Dorsett to compete with David Moore to be the team’s No. 3 wide receiver behind Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf. Seattle’s depth chart at the position also includes 2019 seventh-round pick John Ursua and 2020 sixth-rounder Freddie Swain.
