Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has said it is difficult to motivate his team after having to miss Karim Benzema’s unbeaten run to defeat the last team in La Liga, Huesca.
The spectacular goal in the 89th minute of Benzema means that Zidane has won his first two matches since returning to Madrid’s bench earlier this month.
However, Real was far from the best form in Santiago Bernabeu against a team at the bottom of the table with just five wins this season.
Speaking after the match, Zidane defended his team’s performance, insisting it is difficult to get the best out of the players as they have nothing to play this season.
Real is third in La Liga at the moment, with 12 points less than leader and rival Barcelona and has been eliminated by the Champions League and the King’s Cup earlier.
“It’s impossible to win a title today with only 13 players in the squad. To be clear: I’m not trying to make everyone happy. It is difficult to motivate a team when you know that you will not win any title this season, “said Zidane.
