The Dutch coach has answered the Argentine, who blamed the coach for his failure at Manchester United.
Louis van Gaal has said Angel Di Maria could not cope with pressure at Manchester United since the Argentine had blamed his former coach for the failure of the career of the Red Devils, reports the newspaper Express.
The Argentine was transferred to Old Trafford from Real Madrid for an amount that had then been a Premier League record, 68m euros. He was transferred during the 2014 summer transfer window and his first appearances with the red shirt were quite impressive.
However, Di Maria’s form suffered a drastic decline and he ended up leaving Manchester United just a year later. The Argentine moved to Paris Saint-Germain after scoring only four goals in 32 appearances for United.
Before the PSG match against Manchester United, within 1/8 of the Champions League final, Di Maria made it clear that he blames Van Gaal for his failure at Manchester United.
“There were complications with the coach at the time,” Di Maria said.
However, Van Gaal insisted that Argentine problems in England were not the fault of anyone other than him.
“Di Maria said it was my problem. I tried it in every attack position. You can prove this. He failed to convince me in any of those positions, “Van Gaal said.
“He could not cope with Premier League pressure. That was his problem. ”
Van Gaal then sold Di Marian to PSG for 50m euros in the summer of 2015. For the French champion, he has scored 59 goals in 166 games so far.
